According to reports, Tongsuh Petrochemical Corporation of South Korea decided to shut down the 300,000-ton/year acrylonitrile plant in Ulsan for 25 days starting in mid-May. The plant was originally scheduled to be overhauled in early May, and due to the strong demand for acrylonitrile in the region, the repair time was postponed. . Tongsuh is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Asahi Kasei Corporation. In another development, South Korea’s Tongsuh Petrochemical’s new 25 kt/yr acrylonitrile plant in Ulsan will be put into operation by the end of 2012.
