Yuchai Group, China's largest diesel engine manufacturer, has been actively expanding its global footprint and driving innovation in recent years. The company has not only strengthened its presence in domestic markets but also made significant strides in international competition. In the first half of this year, Yuchai achieved remarkable growth across multiple business segments. The group’s total tax-inclusive sales reached 8.908 billion yuan, representing a 19.01% year-on-year increase. Engine block sales surpassed 260,000 units, rising by 32.59%, while construction machinery unit sales grew by 33.44%. Sales of special-purpose vehicles jumped 107.28%, and auto parts sales increased by 21.11%. Meanwhile, the lubricants and chemicals segment saw an 11.48% rise in revenue.
According to Yu Ping, Chairman of Yuchai Group, the company aims to “rebuild Yuchai†over the next three years. By 2008, the group targets 20 billion yuan in sales revenue, with a goal of reaching 35 billion yuan by 2010. Within five years, Yuchai hopes to achieve exports accounting for 30% of annual sales, solidifying its brand’s international presence through product and production base globalization.
In the traditional engine sector, Yuchai has embraced the concept of “Green Development, Harmony and Win-Win,†leading technological advancements in China’s automotive power systems. The company has pioneered innovations such as electronically controlled combination pumps, after-sales diagnostic equipment, and SCR technology for heavy-duty engines. Its breakthroughs in low-emission energy-saving technologies have allowed products to meet emission standards ahead of schedule, including the launch of the first Chinese-owned European-standard 4-engine. YC6G, advanced superchargers, and quality benchmarks for domestic engines have further enhanced its competitive edge.
Yuchai’s innovative product platforms and marketing strategies have helped its engines gain strong market positions. Truck segment sales rose by 52%, passenger car sales by 50.6%, and electricity sector sales by 29.7%. The company’s Euro 4 engines entered Beijing in bulk, becoming a major highlight in the passenger car market. Successful projects with Dongfeng and XGMA, along with strong performance in 6M models, have driven significant growth in highway trucks and Euro 3 markets. Overseas expansion has also seen success, particularly in Russia and Vietnam, where Yuchai’s Euro 3 and 4W diesel engines have gained traction.
The construction machinery, auto parts, and special vehicle sectors have also experienced rapid development, contributing significantly to Yuchai’s overall growth. The construction machinery division focused on quality improvement, cost reduction, and new product development, earning recognition as one of the most influential brands in China’s construction machinery industry. On the export front, Yuchai continues to expand into emerging markets like Central and South America and North Africa, maintaining its leadership in exporting hydraulic excavators under 15 tons.
The special vehicles segment has leveraged its sales network and technical improvements to build a competitive edge in product variety, quality, and pricing. The auto parts division is expanding its brand influence, strengthening internal and external collaborations, and extending its industrial chain to boost market share and external support volume.
Yuchai Logistics has become a key player in national freight transportation, operating extensive routes from Guangxi to North, East, and Central China. It has established itself as a leader in inter-provincial logistics, earning top honors in the road transport industry. With a focus on ASEAN integration, Yuchai Logistics continues to grow and enhance its service quality.
In 2007, Yuchai was awarded the "China Brand Annual Award NO.1" in the internal combustion engine category, marking its continued leadership in the industry.
