The Indonesian government has accelerated the promotion of the use of biodiesel this year. The Ministerial Regulation No. 25 of the Ministry of Energy clearly stipulates that this year's subsidized fuel must be blended with 10% biodiesel, non-subsidized fuel must be blended with 3% biodiesel, and Commercial oil must be blended with 5% and power generation oil must be blended with 7.5%. From January next year, 10% of biodiesel must be added to subsidized fuel or non-subsidized fuel, while power generation must be blended with 20%. The Indonesian government’s policy regulations and regulatory measures have been effective: Between January and September 2012, the country’s biodiesel consumption was 481,600 liters. From January to September this year, this indicator rose to 601,000 liters. The director of the Indonesian Bureau of Bioenergy stated that it would like to focus on the promotion of biodiesel in power plants, industrial and commercial oil, and strive to achieve better results by the end of this year. The secretary-general of the Indonesian Biofuel Manufacturers Association also stated that Indonesia is a large producer of palm oil.
