MSC Cruises uses Hamworthy freshwater technology

Hamworthy Serck Como has received a new order to install MSF evaporators for a new 133500gt cruise ship of MSC Cruises to help shipowners convert seawater into fresh water and meet IHO drinking water standards.

It is reported that this new cruise ship will be built by STX France, with 3,274 passengers and 1,600 crew members. It is the 12th cruise ship of MSC Cruises that uses Hamworthy MSF evaporator. The evaporator equipment is scheduled to be delivered in June 2011.

Udo Attermeyer, President of Sales at Hamworthy Serck Como, said, “The two MSF 950-8 evaporator units we delivered this time have a single water treatment capacity of 950 tons/day and are installed next to the diesel engine on board to produce a boiler. Technical water needed for showers, drinking water, etc."
