GE Ultrasonic Flowmeter Helps CNOOC Deep Water Project

Introduction: GE's inspection and control technology recently announced that it won the Ultrasonic Flowmeter project of the Deepwater Project of the Zhuhai Bay 3-1 deepwater project. GE provided GF868 torch ultrasonic flowmeters for this project.

Due to the gas composition in the deep-sea gas field, high turndown ratio, large pressure fluctuations, easy to corrode, and unmaintainable maintenance, GE Inspection & Control's technical team recommends the GF868 torch gas ultrasonic flow system in full understanding of the project's process. It is resistant to hydrogen sulfide, sulfur dioxide and other gases corrosion of titanium alloy materials, and the use of on-line plug maintenance program, through a simple demolition operation of its cleaning and maintenance, without affecting the normal operation of the torch flow system. The pipe diameter adopted is based on the optimal selection calculated by the flow velocity calculation software, helping the customer to save costs. Thanks to the outstanding performance of the GF868 Torch Ultrasonic Flowmeter, its ease of installation, operation and maintenance, the product finally won the project.

Liwan 3-1 is currently the largest deep-sea gas field project in China. According to CNOOC, the “Liwan 3-1” gas field in the 1,500-meter deep-sea area in the eastern part of the South China Sea is undergoing preliminary preparations and is scheduled to be put into production in 2013. This will be China's first deep-sea gas field.

GE Inspection and Control's Panametrics ultrasonic flare gas flow system has been invented since 1982. With its unique measurement principle and stable operation, it has been recognized by many customers and has become the preferred instrument for the world-renowned petrochemical companies when measuring flare gas flow. .
