The magnitude of the magnetic force that a magnetic ore is subjected to is proportional to the product of the magnetic field strength and the magnetic field gradient. If the magnetic field gradient is equal to zero (the uniform magnetic field is equal to zero regardless of the strength of the magnetic field ) . Then the magnetic ore particles are subjected to zero magnetic force, and magnetic separation cannot be performed. Therefore, the magnetic boring machine uses an uneven magnetic field.

In the process of magnetic separation, the ore particles are subjected to various forces. In addition to magnetic force, there are gravity, centrifugal force, water flow force and friction.
