Working fire in Park Ridge, 12-13-14

This is from Steve Redick:

Got called in for this job early Saturday evening. The smoke conditions were decent as I was driving down the street, but it had already died down by the time I arrived on scene. From what I could tell, this looked like an attic fire, and it was brought under control with a large line deployed from the outside. Two additional crosslays were also used during the operation. It was interesting to see the truck—a quint—acting as an engine, supplying all the lines. I'm guessing they might have been the first on the scene, or maybe they were short an engine for some reason. I've always enjoyed watching operations like this. Not much to see from my vantage point, but it sounds like this was a solid response.

It’s always fascinating to witness how quickly crews can respond and manage a situation like this. Even though the fire was already out when I got there, the amount of equipment and coordination involved speaks volumes about their preparedness. I’ve seen a few attic fires before, and they can be tricky because of the way heat and smoke tend to spread upward. It’s good to see that the crew managed it efficiently. I imagine the homeowners are pretty relieved right now. Definitely a reminder of how important it is to have the right tools and training on hand.
