Working fire in Stone Park, 12-1-16

The Stone Park Fire Department responded to a basement fire at 1538 N. 40th Avenue this morning on December 1, 2016. The incident was classified as a working fire, involving a two-story, vacant single-family home. Firefighters quickly deployed two lines to tackle the blaze, which was contained without any injuries reported. Mutual aid support came from several nearby departments, including a Leyden truck, Bensenville squad and battalion chief, a Berkeley engine, Northlake truck, and an ambulance from Melrose Park. Additional units from River Forest and Norwood Park provided backup, including an ambulance and an engine, respectively. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation, and no one was harmed during the incident. The scene showed significant damage, with the basement being the primary area affected.
