Hitachi Tools develops new drill bits for cutting stainless steel

Hitachi Tools exhibited the fine drilling of precision mechanical parts and electronic components at the 17th Mould Processing Technology Exhibition (INTERMOLD2006) held in Index Osaka from April 12th to 15th, 2006. Developed the drill "EpochMicroDrill". It can be used to process cutting materials such as resin, non-ferrous metals, stainless steel, alloy steel, etc., and can maintain stable processing for a longer period of time than in the past.

By using a fine-grained TiSiN-based coating, even tools with a diameter of less than 0.1 mm are less likely to wear. Even highly adherent cutting materials such as stainless steel can smoothly discharge chips, so the drill bit is not easily broken.

The roundness of the shank is above 0.2μm, the cylindricity is below 0.5μm, and the diameter tolerance achieves a high precision of 0~?4μm. This reduces the deviation during fixing and increases the processing stability.

There are 13 models in the product, the diameter is between 0.08~0.2mm, and the price is 5072~6993 yen (including tax). Scheduled for listing in May 2006.
