Chicago Still & Box Alarm fire 7-22-14

Here's a report from Eric Haak:

At around 6:30 PM on Tuesday, July 22nd, the captain of Chicago’s 22nd Battalion arrived at the scene of a working fire in a 1.5-story frame home that was occupied. The fire had started in the rear of the attic and quickly spread through most of the upper level. With a three-story apartment building made of wood frame porches adjacent to the fire (Sector D) and a heat index nearing 100 degrees, the 22nd Battalion quickly requested a Still & Box Alarm. Heavy flames were visible coming out of the dormer on Sector B and through the roof above. However, within minutes, the fire began to die down and was brought under control. The truck seen in the photos is Engine 27. This marked the second time in the last three evenings that Engines 75 and 62 responded to a working fire in their district.

The images show the intensity of the fire and the efforts of the firefighters. It was a challenging night for the department, especially with the high temperatures. Firefighters worked quickly and efficiently to bring the blaze under control, preventing it from spreading to nearby buildings. The photos provide a glimpse into the hard work and dedication of the Chicago Fire Department during this incident.
