Wheaton Box Alarm, 4-26-15

It was around 9 PM on April 26, 2015, when the Wheaton Fire Department received a call about a house fire at 1190 Midwest Lane. The first team to arrive, Tower Ladder 38, reported seeing flames shooting through the roof of a two-story house. Firefighters launched an aggressive attack from inside and managed to get the fire under control in roughly 15 minutes. Unfortunately, the fire had already caused significant damage, burning through the roof at the back of the house, particularly in a large 2.5-story family/great room. The interior ceiling in this area had collapsed due to the intensity of the blaze. Thankfully, no firefighters were injured during the operation. I’ve attached some photos below taken by John Tulipano that give you a better idea of what happened that night. These images really capture the scale of the damage and the intense effort required to bring the situation under control. It’s always tough to see homes affected like this, but it’s reassuring to know that the firefighters were able to respond so quickly and effectively. It’s moments like these that remind us of the importance of community support and preparedness.
