House fire in Arlington Heights, 3-17-16
Thursday evening (March 17, 2016), residents of Arlington Heights were alerted to a fire that broke out at a house located at 127 N. Evanston Avenue. The first responders arrived to find thick smoke billowing from a split-level home situated in a cul-de-sac. Quickly assessing the situation, they upgraded the alarm to a Code 4 working fire, which prompted reinforcements not only from Arlington Heights but also included a truck unit dispatched from Mount Prospect and an engine from Prospect Heights.
The firefighters worked swiftly, gaining access to the attic through a scuttle hatch and managed to extinguish the flames within approximately 20 minutes. Their quick action prevented what could have been a much more serious situation.
