Chicago 3-11 Alarm fire and Haz Mat Level I – 3/19/15
The fire broke out late last night at an industrial building located at 3800 W. 38th Place, causing quite a commotion in the area. Tim Olk was on the scene and managed to capture some incredible photos that really capture the intensity of the situation. You can see flames shooting high into the sky and firefighters working tirelessly to bring the blaze under control.
I’ve included some of his shots below, along with a few additional images provided by Larry Shapiro who also happened to be there. Larry’s photos really highlight the power of the master streams being used by the firefighters to douse the flames. It’s clear they were dealing with a challenging situation, and these images give you a sense of just how intense it must have been.

In addition to all this, Commissioner Jose Santiago of the Chicago Fire Department was present at the scene, lending his expertise and support to the operation. Tim Olk even snapped a picture of him, which gives us a glimpse into the leadership aspect of managing such incidents.
It's always humbling to see how communities come together during emergencies like this. The firefighters put themselves in harm's way to keep everyone else safe, and moments like these remind us of their bravery and dedication.
