This is from John Tulipano: For once, I was in the right place at the right time—but it turned out to be a small fire. On April 18th, 2014, around 8:50 AM, Glenside Fire Department received a call about a dryer fire at 644 Burdette in Glendale Heights. I was just two blocks away, at North Ave and Glen Ellyn Road, when I got the dispatch. As I drove toward the address, I saw DuComm reporting that everyone was out of the house and flames were coming from the dryer. I passed by the home and spotted the homeowner and kids outside as I pulled over. The Glendale Heights police were arriving behind me. Engine 58 and Medic 59 showed up within two minutes, stretched a 1-3/4-inch attack line, and quickly knocked down the fire as more units arrived. In my rush to get set up, I forgot to check my ISO settings and ended up taking all the photos at 2500, which was slightly overexposed. Thank goodness for RAW files and Lightroom—those shots still came out decent!
