Ambulance Crash in Arlington Heights 8/5/16
Late Friday evening, after 10 PM, there was quite a commotion at the intersection of Arlington Heights Road and Dundee Road. According to Larry Shapiro, units from both Arlington Heights and Buffalo Grove were dispatched to respond to a reported vehicle collision involving a single car and an ambulance. The incident occurred when a private ambulance was struck and ended up on its side. Fortunately, there was no patient inside the ambulance at the time of the crash. A team of three crew members had already managed to exit the vehicle safely before emergency responders arrived on the scene.
The driver of the sedan involved in the accident was transported to the hospital for further evaluation. As you can imagine, the situation caused some chaos, but thankfully, everyone involved seems to have walked away without any major injuries.
Attached are several images captured by Larry Shapiro that provide a glimpse into the aftermath of the crash. The first photo shows the car involved at the crash site, while the second captures Buffalo Grove Tower Ladder 25 arriving at the scene to assist. The third image highlights the Stryker ambulance cot following the collision, and the fourth gives us a closer look at the Elite Ambulance post-accident. Additionally, the fifth photograph features Hillside Towing Company working diligently to clear the wreckage.
