Grass fire 4-7-14, Fox River & Countryside FRD
From John Tulipano:
This just came in: St. Charles Engine 103 and Brush 101 were dispatched to 4000 West Lincoln Highway (Route 38) for what was initially reported as a potential brush fire. As Engine 103 was on its way, they noticed a massive cloud formation overhead. Upon arrival, they quickly assessed the situation and reported approximately 10 acres of rapidly spreading brush fire moving westward. Chief 112 arrived shortly after and immediately requested additional resources, specifically brush trucks from Batavia and Geneva. When Elburn's chief arrived, he called for even more support—two brush trucks and a tanker from Elburn.
Meanwhile, Fox River and Countryside (FRC) had been alerted by Kane County. They were already dealing with two separate brush fires at the northeastern edge of their jurisdiction. Despite this, they managed to send both of their engines, a tanker, and two brush trucks to assist.
When FRC finally arrived, they took charge of the western flank of the fire to safeguard nearby structures, including a large barn, a house, and several outbuildings. Their tanker played a crucial role throughout the operation, refilling St. Charles, Elburn, and their own brush rigs multiple times to help contain the blaze. It turned out that the fire actually fell within FRC's district, located at 39w962 Route 38.

The firefighters worked tirelessly under challenging conditions to prevent further spread of the fire. The teamwork between departments was evident, and it was inspiring to see everyone come together to protect the community. This fire serves as a reminder of how unpredictable nature can be and the importance of having well-prepared emergency services ready to respond at a moment's notice.
