Excerpts from a Daily Herald article: Buffalo Grove Fire Chief Terry Vavra is set to retire after nearly seven years leading the village’s fire department, officials announced on Monday. With a total of 39 years of service in the firefighting profession, Vavra joined the Buffalo Grove Fire Department in 2008 after serving for 28 years with the Lisle-Woodridge Fire District, where he retired as deputy chief. During his time in Buffalo Grove, Vavra played a key role in negotiating two labor agreements and introduced a new process for testing battalion chiefs. He also served on the Lake County Fire Chiefs Board for five years, including a term as board chair. In addition to his leadership roles, Vavra has been an active educator, teaching firefighter safety courses and contributing articles to industry publications. Deputy Fire Chief Michael Baker will take over as interim fire chief while the village searches for Vavra’s permanent replacement. Vavra’s final day at the department is scheduled for this Friday. Terrance “Terry†Vavra is stepping down on February 13, marking the end of his tenure in the role. “It was a tough decision, but I need to be going in a different direction,†Vavra said on February 9. Vavra had previously spent 28 years with the Lisle-Woodridge Fire District before retiring as deputy chief. Instead of fully retiring, he took on the role of fire chief in Buffalo Grove in March 2008. According to Vavra, his time in the position has come to an end, noting that “they say the lifespan of a chief is about seven years.†On February 14, Vavra plans to focus more on family. “I’m told I have a wife, who I haven’t seen much of in the past seven years, and I want to spend more time with my granddaughter,†he said. Looking ahead, Vavra mentioned that he might explore more opportunities in travel and education within the fire service. As the village begins the search for his successor, Village Manager Dane Bragg is finalizing his team of department heads. Since joining in 2010, Bragg has hired new leaders for the police and public works departments, as well as a new deputy village manager and a community development director—a position he created last year. 4 Seater Golf Cart,4 Passenger Oem Golf Cart,4 Passenger Golf Cart,4 Passenager Electric Golf Cart Shaanxi Green Enjoyment New Energy Technology Co., Ltd. , https://www.greenjoyev.com
